Message from the Chair

Welcome to the Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Institute. The Institute's Board of Directors, Research Director, research scientists and professional staff all have one driving ambition and that is to:

Advance the understanding and treatment of cancer by making an internationally-recognised contribution to cancer research.

The Board is the Institute's governing body and is responsible for good governance ensuring that the Institute holds to the highest ethical, scientific and business standards. Our Board members are drawn from Ballarat and its region, providing leadership and expertise in business, law, finance, science, marketing and fundraising. All Board members gladly donate their expertise and time on a voluntary basis.

The Board is delighted to support Professor George Kannourakis, our Research Director, and his team of dedicated scientists, in continuing their contribution to the international world of cancer research. It is only through such research that most cancers will, in time, become preventable and curable.

I encourage you not only to explore the website, but also to remember that the Research Institute relies on donations and bequests for its most valuable work. We deeply value any contribution you might make to the Institute.
